ProPic
Latest technology for the automatic excision of protein spots from1D
and 2D gels. The ProPic takes detected spot co-ordinates from the
Proteome 1D Analyser and Progenesis image analysis software, respectivley
and excises protein spots into 96 well plates suitable for subsequent
protein digestion.

Advanced proteomic imaging
system optimised for sensitive and high resolution detection and quantitation
of low abundant proteins. Capable of imaging a range of fluorescent dyes(
e.g. Sypro Ruby, DIGE, SuperBRIGHTc) visible dyes (e.g. Coomassie,
Silver), and chemilluminescence. The ability to select excitation and
emission filters futureproofs the instrument for any new fluorescent probes.

PerkinElmer MULTIPROBE
II
The Multiprobe II is a multifuncional
robotic liquid handling station which takes the 96 well plates from the
ProPic and performs enzymatic digestion and spots the digestion
products directly onto the mass spectrometer MALDI target plates. These
are then analysed on the SABC's Perseptive Biosystems Voyager DE Pro mass
spectrometer.

NonLinear Dynamics PROGENESIS
SOFTWARE
2D gels are analysed using
NLD's Progenesis software to automatically detect spots accurately and
robustly with minimal user intervention. Additionally this software analyses
protein expression levels and prepares a "spot cutting" list
which is used by the ProPic to locate the positions of proteins
for excision.

BioRad 2 DIMENSIONAL GEL
ELECTROPHORESIS/IEF
For the first and second
dimension separation of proteins we have a broad array of BioRad electrophoresis
equipment including the Protean ii multicell system. This permits 12 gels
to be run simultaneously for minium gel to gel variation.
